BAPTISMS
Baptisms are an important rite at Central. All baptized children receive banners from the Womens' Association to serve as a reminder of their baptism.
FIELD OF DREAMS
Summertime Worship
Our Field of Dreams was started with a hope and a dream. We had the field - we just needed to complete the dream.
A large picnic pavilion containing 10 picnic tables and benches was constructed by many dedicated church members. Lights, outlets and security lights were all installed by a retired electrician. End benches make our pavilion handicapped accessible. A mural was painted by the church youth, under the direction of Artist Tom Fox, on the barn, which borders the South side of the pavilion. It's a delightful spot for summer services.
Our pavilion is used for picnics, parties, dinners, Sunday School gatherings and meetings. We also rent the Pavilion to outside organizations. A large grassy area and playground enhances the Field of Dreams. Burger King donated a climbing slide unit, for the cost of moving it. All sizes enjoy sliding! A large sand box with two benches was constructed by dedicated church members. The playground area is a favorite of the Geneseo Nursery School which meets in our church.
Dedication of the Field of Dreams was October 15, 1995. Our Field of Dreams was recognized by the Association of the Preservation of Geneseo with an Award of Merit in May 1996.
C. FREDERICK YOOS MEMORIAL GARDEN
Our C. Frederick Yoos Memorial Garden is a garden for all seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Landscaping on the west side of the church was enhanced in 1991 on the north side by creating an "L" shaped continuous garden along the base of the church. An area from the base of the building was left for scattering of ashes and a grid with a 2' x 2' squares created plots among the plantings. The grave markers, which are flat, identify the plots. All who rest in the garden have a small brass name plate mounted on a plaque in the Narthex.
The Memorial Garden was dedicated Easter Sunday, April 19, 1992. and Janice L. Willer was hired as Director of Memorial Garden in the Fall of 1992. This lovely garden invites celebration, yet offers privacy appropriate to those congregants who rest there.
Our Memorial Garden received the Civic Beautification Award by the Geneseo Garden Club in January of 1993.
